5 reasons why it is important to support siblings after the loss of their baby brother or sister.

1-❤️ Because their grief matters. Children may feel sadness, anger, confusion, jealousy or guilt.

Others may continue to play and laugh. Every response is valid.

2-💗 They need honest, age-appropriate explanations.

Gentle conversations help children understand what has happened and reassure them that nothing they did or said caused their sibling’s death.

3- 🩵 They need to feel safe. Familiar routines, loving reassurance and dependable care can help when their world feels uncertain.

4- 🌈 They need permission to be children. They shouldn’t feel responsible for making everyone else feel better. They’re allowed to laugh, play and enjoy life while still missing their sibling.

5- 🕊️ Their sibling’s memory deserves a place. Talking about their baby, creating keepsakes or remembering special dates can help them feel connected, even if they never had the chance to meet.

Please remember that there is no perfect way to support a grieving child.

Sometimes it’s a conversation, sometimes a cuddle, and sometimes simply being there to listen.

We cannot take away their pain, but we can make sure they never have to carry it alone. 💗

Every sibling matters. Every feeling matters. And every baby will always be part of their family’s story.

With love,
